HACCP temperature logging in cold rooms and freezers
Logging intervals, alarm delays, sensor placement and data retention for cold rooms and freezers, and which ICP DAS hardware fits each task.
Sensors, data loggers and alarm modules for temperature, humidity, CO2 and leaks in food, pharma, laboratories and storage.
Many processes and stored goods depend on stable conditions. Food production and storage need documented temperatures for HACCP, pharmaceuticals and blood products need controlled storage, laboratories and server rooms need a stable climate, and museums and archives need controlled humidity. The common requirement is continuous measurement, reliable logging and an alarm when a limit is exceeded.
The CL series data loggers measure temperature, humidity and dew point, combined with CO2, CO, particulate matter (PM1, PM2.5, PM10), TVOC or gases such as O2, NH3 and H2S depending on the model. They log data internally, communicate over RS-485 and Ethernet with PoE using Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP and MQTT, and are also available with Wi-Fi. Liquid leakage detection uses sensing cable laid along pipes and floors, and signals a leak to the monitoring system.
Where sensors are already installed, temperature input modules read thermocouples, RTDs and thermistors directly. RS-485 modules such as the M-7000 series do this over Modbus RTU, Ethernet modules over Modbus TCP, and wireless I/O covers locations that are difficult to cable.
Alert modules play voice or tone messages and drive sirens, and iKAN LED message displays show measured values or alarm texts where staff can see them. Combined with an edge controller or an I/O module with logic rules, alarms can also be sent by e-mail.
For HACCP and quality systems, measurements must be stored with time stamps and kept available for inspection. Data can be logged locally in the sensor or module, collected by an edge controller, or stored centrally in SCADA, a database or IoTstar.
Each cold room and freezer gets a temperature sensor read by M-7000 RTD input modules on a shared RS-485 line, and a CL series logger monitors humidity and CO2 in the packing area. An edge controller collects all values, stores them with time stamps for the HACCP records and sends an e-mail and switches a siren if a room stays above its limit for longer than the set delay.
Send us a list of rooms or measuring points, and we will propose sensors, logging and alarm handling.
CL-202-E CR is a data logger module for monitoring indoor air quality and climate conditions. It measures CO2 with a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) sensor, alongside temperature, relative humidity and dew point, and records the results with date and time stamps for later analysis. The module offers an RS-485 port and an Ethernet port with PoE support, so it can be integrated into existing HMI or SCADA systems over DCON, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP or MQTT. Real-time readings can be viewed from the iAir Utility, the iOS or Android apps, or a web browser, provided the logger is on the same local network. Logged data can be exported to CSV for analysis in standard spreadsheet or industry software.Relay output for alarm signalling or control of IAQ equipmentCeiling or wall mounting, IP20 housing, Ø 150 x 53 mmOperating temperature 0 ~ 50°C, non-condensing humidity range 10 ~ 90% RHApplicationsTransportation of food or pharmaceuticalsFood and beverage industry (HACCP)Blood stations and pharmaciesBuilding and energy managementWarehouse managementMuseums, archives and galleriesIndoor or underground parking lot air quality monitoring
DL-100TM485S is a black-cover, IP66 remote data logger for monitoring temperature and relative humidity over a -20 to +60 °C and 0 to 100% RH measurement range. Readings are stored internally, shown on an LCD and made available over RS-485 using Modbus RTU, so the module can feed a supervisory system or be read on site. This non-P version has a typical accuracy of ±0.4 °C and ±3% RH between 20 and 80% RH. Logging intervals run from 10 seconds to 1 day, and when storage is full the module can either overwrite older records or stop logging, as configured.Configuration, retrieval and charting are handled with the DL Utility, which can export data to Excel. The unit runs from 10 to 30 VDC, mounts on a DIN-rail or wall, and is rated IP66 for harsh or washdown environments.ApplicationsTransportation of food or pharmaceuticalsFood and beverage industry (HACCP)Blood stations and pharmaciesBuilding and energy managementWarehousesMuseums, archives and galleries
The DL-303 CR records carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, temperature, humidity and dew point together, with date and time stamps on every record. Readings are shown simultaneously on a 2.8-inch touch screen, and a single relay output can drive an alarm device or an indoor air quality (IAQ) control device.Data can be read over RS-485 using DCON or Modbus RTU, or over Ethernet using Modbus TCP or MQTT. The unit can be powered from PoE (IEEE 802.3af, Class 1) or from a +12 ~ +48 VDC terminal block, which simplifies installation where a network cable is already present. Configuration is available through the touch screen or the built-in web server.Logged data can be downloaded and exported to CSV for analysis. Free Windows utility software, iOS and Android apps are included, and multilingual on-screen messages can be shown to prompt operators. The device is listed with CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE certification.ApplicationsTransportation of food or pharmaceuticalsFood and beverage industry (HACCP)Blood stations and pharmaciesBuilding and energy managementWarehouse managementMuseums, archives and galleries
The I-7005 CR measures temperature from thermistor sensors and reports readings over RS-485 using the DCON protocol. Its eight input channels can each be configured separately for a different thermistor type, and the module supports a broad list of standard types as well as user-defined types, which are set up by entering Steinhart coefficients where required.Six open-collector digital outputs (sink, NPN) let the module drive alarm signals directly when a monitored temperature needs attention. The thermistor inputs are protected by 3000 VDC intra-module isolation and 120 VDC overvoltage protection, and a built-in dual watchdog supports dependable unattended operation.Key electrical and mechanical details for the I-7005 CR:Power input of +10 ~ +30 VDC with reverse polarity protectionOperating temperature of -25 ~ +75 °CDIN-rail mounting, 72 x 123 x 35 mm (W x L x H)ApplicationsBuilding automationFactory automationMachine automationRemote maintenanceRemote diagnosisTesting equipment
