PIO-D64U is a universal PCI card for 3.3 V and 5 V bus slots that adds 64 TTL-level digital channels to an industrial PC. The 32 inputs and 32 outputs are each arranged as two 16-bit ports, so they can be addressed in straightforward word-wide operations.
The card is a drop-in replacement for the PIO-D64, so existing software and drivers can remain unchanged. A six-channel counter/timer can use 250 kHz, 500 kHz, 1 MHz or 2 MHz clock sources, with three channels available for frequency measurement, event counting or pulse generation. The remaining channels handle interrupt functions, and a 4-bit onboard Card ID switch allows individual boards to be identified in software when two or more are installed in the same computer.
Typical use cases include event counting, frequency measurement, pulse generation and interrupt-driven digital I/O on a PC-based data acquisition system.
