Serial devices on PROFIBUS without rewriting the controller side. The I-7550-B acts as a PROFIBUS DP-V0 slave, allowing existing RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 equipment to be integrated into a PROFIBUS network. It suits engineers who need to bring legacy or third-party serial instruments into a PROFIBUS architecture.
A Hybrid COM 1 port lets you select the physical serial standard that matches your device, and only one mode can be used at a time. Serial settings support 7 or 8 data bits, none, odd or even parity and 1 stop bit, with baud rates from 1200 to 115200 bps. The PROFIBUS transmission rate is detected automatically, and the station address is set from 0 to 126 using a DIP switch.
The unit is housed in a plastic case and mounts on a DIN rail. Isolation is provided by a high-speed iCoupler on the network side and 3000 VDC on the PROFIBUS side, which helps protect the serial equipment and the bus during installation in industrial cabinets.
