The tGW-715-UL bridges Ethernet-based Modbus TCP masters and serial Modbus RTU/ASCII devices on a single 1-port RS-422/485 interface. It allows legacy serial equipment to be reached over a TCP/IP network, removing the cable-length restrictions of a direct serial connection.
Power can be supplied over Ethernet using IEEE 802.3af Class 1 PoE from a compatible switch, or from a +12 ~ 48 VDC terminal block where no PoE switch is available. A read-cache stores previous requests and responses, so repeated polls from several masters to the same slave can be answered quickly, reducing traffic on the RS-485 bus.
This ordering code uses the standard, non-isolated RS-422/485 port with an operating range of -25 ~ +70 °C. Choose the tGW-715i-UL variant if the serial port requires 3000 VDC signal isolation, or the -UTA version for operation down to -40 °C.
