The MDC-714i CR gathers data from Modbus RTU devices on its serial ports and presents it to host systems over a single Ethernet connection. It provides one RS-232 port and four RS-485 ports, three of which are signal-isolated, so legacy serial devices can join an Ethernet network.
A user-defined command table lets the unit poll each COM port in turn and merge the results into a continuous address range, so a host can read or write data in bulk. Each port can be configured independently for baud rate, data format and timeout, and each can operate as a Modbus RTU master or slave. Write commands are queued with first priority to keep data updates fast.
Configuration is handled through a simple CSV file and an HTML5 web interface, which supports import, export and start-up. Up to eight simultaneous Modbus TCP connections are supported. The metal casing is wall-mounted and rated for operation from -25 to +75 °C.
