The I-7523 CR converts an RS-485 network into up to three serial ports, so RS-232 devices can take part in an addressed RS-485 network. Each local RS-232 device is assigned a unique address. The host PC addresses commands to that device over RS-485, the converter strips the address field and forwards the command to the local device, and the reply is returned to the host through the module.
Unlike slave-type converters, which cannot operate without a host PC, the I-7523 CR works as a master-type device. This suits installations where the converter needs to handle its own polling or control logic rather than relying only on the host, and where individual application requirements are not met by a passive converter.
The blue-cover variant includes one non-isolated dry-contact digital input, along with onboard DI/DO support for real-time monitoring and control, plus power-up and safe values for the digital output. The RS-485 port is isolated to 3000 V.
