The I-7522D CR lets RS-232 devices sit on an RS-485 network with their own address. Commands from the host carry the device address, the converter strips it and passes the command to the locally attached RS-232 device, and the reply returns through the module to the host. Each RS-232 interface has a 1KB queue buffer.
Unlike slave-type converters that depend on a host PC to operate, this unit is described by the manufacturer as a master-type converter, so it can run its own logic. It adds two dry-contact digital inputs and one open-collector digital output, all monitored and controlled in real time, with dual-watchdog commands and power-up and safe values for the output.
The RS-485 port is isolated to 3000 V. The blue-cover version is supplied with a 7-segment LED indicator, a +10 ~ 30 VDC supply input with reverse polarity protection, and DIN-rail or wall mounting for industrial cabinets.
