I-7188E2 is a programmable Ethernet device server that brings an RS-232 device and an RS-485 device onto a network. Each serial port can be accessed over Ethernet, so existing serial equipment can be integrated without replacing it.
Data can be passed through as Virtual COM ports, which suits software written for standard COM ports, or as raw TCP connections for direct socket communication. A VxComm driver supports 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 10, 2012 and 2016.
The unit runs the built-in MiniOS7 from ICP DAS and includes a watchdog timer for unattended operation in harsh environments. Its removable on-board terminal block simplifies field wiring, and the compact housing measures 123 mm x 72 mm x 33 mm.
