The HRT-227CS CR converts a HART loop into a single mode fiber link, so HART field devices can be monitored over distances that copper cabling cannot practically cover. Its 1310 nm SC duplex optical port reaches up to 30 km, and the unit suits engineers who need to bring remote transmitters onto a central HART host without losing the digital data.
The converter handles both HART short and long frames and supports burst mode. It can run in point-to-point or multi-drop configuration with up to 15 HART slave devices, and it allows two HART masters on the network. A selectable 250 Ω loop resistor is set by DIP switch, so the unit can be fitted without an external resistor where one is required.
Configuration is carried out with the free HC_Tool utility over an RS-232 configuration port, and firmware can be updated through the same COM port. Fiber break detection and a built-in watchdog help with fault diagnosis, while 4 kV ESD protection and UL1577 isolation on the HART port support reliable installation. The unit mounts on a DIN rail and is rated for an operating temperature of -25 ~ +75 °C.
