PIO-D96U CR is a universal PCI card for engineers who need a large block of TTL digital I/O in an industrial PC. Its 96 lines are grouped into twelve 8-bit bidirectional ports, so each group of three ports maps to Port A, Port B and Port C. All ports power up as inputs, which gives a safe starting state after power-on or reset.
The card runs in both 3.3 V and 5 V PCI slots and provides four connectors for field wiring: one female DB37 and three 50-pin box headers. Every I/O line is buffered on the board, and the buffered outputs offer higher driving capability than unbuffered lines. Pull-high/low jumpers let you define the state of digital inputs when a channel is disconnected or interrupted, rather than leaving it floating.
An onboard 4-bit Card ID switch allows software to identify each board when two or more are installed in the same computer. Software support covers Linux, DOS and Windows, with a DLL, an ActiveX control and sample programs for several development environments, including C#.NET, Visual Basic.NET and LabVIEW.
