The MDC-711 CR links a serial Modbus RTU device or two to an Ethernet network. Its RS-232 and RS-485 ports can act as Modbus RTU master or slave, while the Ethernet port serves Modbus TCP slave connections to up to eight host controllers at the same time. A user-defined command table polls the attached devices and merges their data into one continuous address space, so a SCADA host can read or write everything in a single bulk transaction.
Each COM port can be configured independently for baud rate, data format and timeout. Baud rates run from 1200 to 115200 bps, with N81, E81 and O81 data formats. Write commands are queued with first priority to keep control values current. Polling definitions are set up from a simple CSV file, and an HTML5 web interface handles configuration import, export and start-up.
The unit has a metal casing for wall mounting and accepts a non-regulated +10 VDC to +30 VDC supply, drawing 2.5 W. It is rated for operation from -25 to +75 °C and is CE, UKCA, FCC, RoHS and WEEE marked. It suits upgrading legacy Modbus RTU equipment to Ethernet-based monitoring.
