The EMP-9258-32 CR combines an IEC 61131-3 SoftPLC with a real-time EtherCAT master and a multi-axis motion kernel, so one controller can handle logic, coordinated motion and Windows applications side by side. It is suited to machine builders who need to control up to 32 axes on EtherCAT servo or stepper drives with a 0.5 ms cycle time.
Motion is handled by PLCopen function blocks for single-axis and multi-axis control, with CiA402 drive support and linear, circular and helical interpolation. Windows software such as HMIs or data-gathering applications can access PLC data through shared memory and the provided C/C++/C#/LabVIEW programming interfaces, while an integrated OPC UA server allows standard OPC UA clients to connect without customisation.
This two-slot variant adds expansion capacity for e9K, I-9K and I-97K I/O modules, alongside 8 digital inputs and 8 open-collector digital outputs on the main unit. Dual Ethernet, RS-232/RS-485 and RS-485 serial ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and Modbus TCP/RTU support allow it to act as a Modbus/EtherCAT gateway in mixed networks.
