The DIO-48 CR is an ISA bus digital I/O board that gives a PC 48 bi-directional 5 V/TTL channels. The lines are grouped into six 8-bit bi-directional ports, and each port's direction is programmable under software control, so the board can be set up for a mix of inputs and outputs.
Every I/O line is buffered on the board, which provides higher driving capability. Pull-up or pull-down resistors on the I/O lines keep an unconnected digital input at a defined high or low level instead of letting it float. The board emulates two industrial-standard 8255 PPI ports in mode 0, which helps when porting existing 8255-based code.
Timing resources include a 32-bit programmable internal timer and a 16-bit event counter, with four interrupt sources. The board supports daughter boards from the DB-24 and DB-16 families as well as OPTO-22 compatible daughter boards.
